All about the Urdukas I Expedition.

The Urdukas I Expedition is a breath-taking tour through Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region’s mighty Karakoram Mountains. This amazing excursion offers the chance to conquer the spectacular Urdukas I, a peak that rises to a mind-blowing elevation of 6,320 metres (about 20,735 ft) above sea level. The Baltoro Glacier lies directly above this magnificent top.

Urdukas I am a portion of the Karakoram Mountains, a chain renowned for its majestic scale and difficult peaks. A vast mountain range that crosses both Pakistan and China is known as the Karakoram Mountain Range. It is recognised for being home to some of the most magnificent mountains in the world, such as the recognisable K2, Gasherbrum, and Nanga Parbat. Approximately 500 kilometres long and 200 kilometres wide, this vast range connects to the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains on various occasions.

In Pakistan, the summer season, from May to August, is the best time to start the ascent to the peak. Participants are given the chance to continue their exploration of the area after the expedition to Urdukas I. They can hike to Concordia, which is known as the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods” because of the surrounding towering peaks. Alternatively, explorers can return to Skardu, a region renowned for its verdant meadows, lively culture, and rich history.

Following thorough briefings and preparations at the tourism department, the expedition begins with entering the base camp via jeep from the adjacent town of Skardu. The route continues via the Baltoro Glacier before splitting off to head into the sub-range. An intriguing and difficult playground for mountaineers, Urdukas I is surrounded by neighbouring peaks, many of which exceed 5,000, 6,000, and even 7,000 metres in elevation.

The Urdukas I Expedition offers an immersive experience in the captivating scenery and rich cultural history of the Karakoram Range in addition to the chance to conquer an awesome summit. This tour into the heart of the Karakoram Mountains flawlessly mixes the exhilaration of mountaineering with the discovery of one of Pakistan’s most stunning and culturally significant locations.
