All about the Trango Tower Expedition.

The Trango Tower Expedition is a remarkable expedition through the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains. The Trango Towers, a breathtaking collection of towering rocky outcrops and majestic glaciers, serve as the backdrop for our trip. The Right or Main Tower, West Tower, Southwest Tower, and East Tower are just a few of the majestic formations that stand at an astounding 6,286 metres (20,623 ft) above sea level. They are acknowledged as one of the most breathtaking clusters of cliffs and vertical faces in the entire world, not only in the Baltoro Muztagh sub-range of the Karakoram.

Particularly on the East face, the Trango Towers are renowned for their difficult rock climbing routes with virtually vertical fall. Rock climbers will find this area to be a veritable paradise because it is bordered by other prominent peaks including Muztagh Tower, Biange Tower, Lupsand Tower, Uli Biaho Tower, and Paiju Peak.

Galen Rowell, Kim Schmitz, John Roskelly, and Dennis Hennek led a team that successfully scaled the Trango Towers in July 1977, making it a landmark accomplishment and a turning point in climbing history.

The Trango Tower Expedition starts in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital. Adventurers drive a jeep from the adjacent town of Skardu to the base camp, following important instructions from the tourism agency. Before diverging in the direction of the sub-range, the route passes across the Baltoro Glacier.

The Trango Towers’ impressive 1,600-meter rock wall on the East face makes it one of the tallest rock walls in the world. Explorers are rewarded at the summit with a mountain vista that rivals the splendour of some of the highest peaks in the world, conveniently located in this amazing area. The surrounding area is a paradise for mountaineers, with nearby peaks ranging in elevation from 5,000 metres to over 7,000 metres.

Notably, the Great Trango Towers have distinguished themselves as a top BASE jumping location. In fact, Glen Singleman’s historic jump from the North-East Face, coming down from an astounding height of 5,955 metres (19,537 ft), held the world record for the highest BASE jump. Those seeking the ultimate in mountaineering challenges and an exploration of some of the most stunning natural treasures on Earth are drawn to the Trango Tower Expedition.
