Rakhan Gali is unique because of its amazing beauty. This high-altitude route winds around the southern borders of the impressive Rakaposhi-Haramosh Range, providing a beautiful ride through rocky terrain. 1. Day 01 Chirah to Gargoh

A trail ascends the east side of the valley above the Hinarche Glacier from Chirah (2700m), then descends to the Burche Glacier’s silty outwash stream. Ascend past Sat village, whose fields and trees encircle the north side of the Burche Valley, after crossing the footbridge. Continue on to Dar, a summer town located two to three hours from Chirah, and then make your way down to the glacier. The track ascends the glacier and splits after 1.5 kilometers. Both branches leave the glacier, with one going north and the other east towards Rakhan Gali. The north branch travels along a clean stream through a picturesque valley where logging is in full swing. At the foot of the Miar peaks (6824m), which are beyond this valley, are pastures and glaciers. It is also possible to take a day walk or set up camp atop the ridge rising to the north from these fields. To reach Gargoh (3500m), continue south along the trail’s east branch for another two hours through moraine. Along the southern edge of the Burche Glacier, in a level area with trees and plenty of water, are these herders’ cottages.

  2. Day 02 Gargoh to Agurtsab Dar

Agurtsab Dar (3950m), a decent high camp with a clear stream, is reached after two to three hours of continuing south and east up the Gargoh Valley. There are no herders’ huts in this meadow.

  3. Day 03 Agurtsab Dar to Darchan

Following the stream to the pass, Agurtsab Dar takes three hours to reach the summit of Rakhan Gali. After the grass finishes 1 12 hours above Agurtsab Dar, the trail ascends over tiresome rock and scree. to detect snow in the saddle with expertise. From Rakhan Gali (4548 m), descend extremely steeply for two to three hours via the pastures of Ber (3400 m), and then continue farther down in this sylvan valley for another one to eleven and a half hours to the summer town of Darchan (3200 m).

  4. Day 04 Darchan to Hanuchal

Three hours from Ber, descend the Darchan Gah via a trail to the main settlement of Khaltaro (2500m). Just west of Sassi, the main trail continues for three to four hours to Hanuchal (1600m) along the Gilgit-Skardu road.
