Kunyang Chhish, a majestic mountain located in the Hispar Muztagh sub-range of the powerful Karakoram Mountain range, is a journey to behold. Kunyang Chhish, at an astounding height of 7,852 metres (25,761 ft), is the eighth-highest peak in Pakistan, the 21st-highest point in the world, and the second-highest summit in Hispar Muztagh. This enormous mountain, which is frequently cited alongside its neighbour Distaghil Sar (the tallest in the sub-range), offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
A Polish Expedition under the direction of the eminent Andrzej Zawada made the first successful ascent of Kunyang Chhish in 1971. In 1988, two daring British climbers made the second and sole other successful ascent to the summit, adding their names to the list of those who conquered this daunting peak.
Five different peaks make up the challenging mountain Kunyang Chhish, each of which presents special difficulties:
- 7.852 metres (25,761 ft) is the height of Kunyang Chhish Main.
- 7.620 metres (25,000 ft) Kunyang Chhish South
- 7.400 metres (24,300 ft) Kunyang Chhish East
- 7.350 metres (24,110 ft) Kunyang Chhish West
- 7.108 metres (23,320 ft) Kunyang Chhish North
In the Gilgit-Baltistan region, your mission to conquer Kunyang Chhish sets off from the lovely Hispar Valley. Travel via the Hispar Valley and the Hispar Glacier is frequently preferred for its relative easiness and quicker approach, even if an alternative route starts at the Biafo Glacier from Baltoro. The summer months, from May to August, are the finest for climbing since the mountain is at its most attractive.
A massive geological wonder that crosses Pakistan and China, the Karakoram Mountain Range is home to some of the most famous peaks in the world, including the fabled K2 and Nanga Parbat. At various spots, this enormous range, which is 500 kilometres long and 200 kilometres wide, connects to the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains. Numerous rivers, including the renowned Hunza River and the powerful Indus River, are also found there.
Joining the Kunyang Chhish Expedition gives you the chance to feel the rush of reaching the top of a challenging peak while also getting to know the breathtaking scenery and dynamic cultures of Gilgit-Baltistan. It’s an adventure that will stick in your mind as a monument to the strength of the human spirit and the magnificence of nature.
