Get ready to go out on a breathtaking expedition to conquer the impressive peak of Batura Sar, also known as Batura I, in the Karakoram Mountain Range. It towers over the Batura Glacier, the sixth-longest non-polar glacier on the earth, at an astonishing height of 7,795 meters (25,574 ft). Batura Sar is revered and admired for being the 10th-highest mountain in Pakistan and the 25th-highest peak in the world.
Your trek to the top of this recognizable mountain begins in Gilgit-Baltistan’s charming Passu Village, which is tucked away in the Gojal Valley. At the far northwest tip of this spectacular mountain range, Batura Sar holds the distinction of being the second-most prominent peak in the Karakoram. Batura Sar is the height of the Karakoram Mountains, with no higher mountain to the north or west elsewhere in the world.
As the most prominent summit among the Batura Wall’s peaks and the highest point in the Batura Muztagh sub-range, Batura Sar, also referred to as Batura I, has pride of position. These geological wonders can be found in Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains, a large and breathtaking chain of peaks that is home to illustrious summits like K2 and Nanga Parbat. This enormous range connects smoothly with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at specific locations, measuring an astonishing 500 kilometers in length and 200 kilometers in width.
The extraordinary climb to the top of Batura Sar began in 1976 as part of the Göppingen Karakoram-Himalaya Expedition, which also saw the first successful ascent to the top of Batura I. Through this legendary feat, the names of daring climbers were immortalized in the annals of climbing history.
Adventurers are invited to conquer the lofty heights of this Karakoram behemoth by the Batura Sar Expedition. You will set out on an excursion that offers not only the thrill of conquering but also a profound and lasting connection with the natural wonders of the Karakoram Mountains, with the Batura Glacier as your backdrop and the stunning landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan surrounding you.
